20th March 2020., Zagreb (Croatia)
As a result of an extensive field survey of wider area of Kalinovac – Hrastova greda site, bog iron ore fragments were found. They originate from a layer of ore/ore lens formed as a subsurface layer beneath topsoil. According to preliminary macroscopic analysis these samples represent the third formation stage of the bog iron ores. During several field campaigns on the Kalinovac – Hrastova greda site, samples of soil, nodules or concretions and fragments originating from bog iron ore subsurface layer/lens were collected. These represent three main stages of the bog iron ore formation process in the Podravina region.
