Preliminary research of the wider area will be conducted in the area from the mouth of the Mura and Drava Rivers to Slatina, which includes the lowland, central part of the Drava river basin. To identify the indicative archaeological sites where pre-industrial iron production was taking place, significant are surface archaeological finds (broken slag, kiln walls and nozzles) collected after agricultural works.

That is why primary acquaintance with the whole area through reconnaissance and reambulation of the terrain is crucial for the further stages of the research.
