Additional radiocarbon dating of four charcoal samples was performed at 14 CHRONO Centre in Belfast, Northern Irland. The analysed samples were collected during the research of the Virje – Sušine (two samples) and Kalinovac – Hrastova greda 1 (two samples) sites. The obtained dates indicate that the archaeological remains belong to the time of late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages.

Radiocarbon dating of three samples of charcoal at the 14 CHRONO Centre laboratory in Belfast, Northern Ireland, was carried out. The analysed samples were collected during the excavation of Kalinovac – Hrastova greda 1 site in 2019 (2 samples from the same feature and 1 sample from a feature that was considered to represent smithing hearth). The obtained dates indicate that the archaeological remains belong to the late Antiquity and early Middle Ages.
November/December 2018
Radiocarbon dating of six samples of charcoal at the 14 CHRONO Centre laboratory in Belfast, Northern Ireland, was carried out. The analysed samples were collected during the excavation of Hlebine-Dedanovice site in 2018 (1 sample from a kiln, 2 from furnaces and 3 from other features). The obtained dates indicate that the archaeological remains belong to the late Antiquity and early Middle Ages and that the kiln and furnaces were contemporary to certain features of settlement character.
November 2017
Radiocarbon dating of four samples of charcoal at the 14 CHRONO Center laboratory in Belfast, Northern Ireland, was carried out. The analysed samples were collected during the excavation of Hlebine-Velike Hlebine site in 2017 (2 samples from a metal foundry and 2 samples from the settlement). The obtained dates indicate that the metal foundry was functioning at the turn of the late antiquity to the early Middle Ages, and that the settlement belonged to the early medieval period.
August 2017
Radiocarbon dating of four samples of charcoal at the 14 CHRONO Center laboratory in Belfast, Northern Ireland, was carried out. The analysed samples were collected during the excavations of Virje-Volarski breg (2010 - 1 sample from the smelting waste), Virje-Sušine (2013 - 2 samples from the furnace and pit) and Hlebine-Velike Hlebine (2016 - 1 sample from the furnace) sites. The obtained dates indicate that both metal foundries were functioning during late antiquity and early Middle Ages.
